Q. Can furniture be supplied with loose covers?
A. All cushions covers are removable but the remaining covers are fixed. However, if you insist on a loose cover we can arrange for a loose cover to be made externally. This will add to the delivery time.

Q. Do these prices include leather?
A. Yes. Leather furniture prices are based on using either plain corrected or semi-corrected grains for more contemporary furniture or ‘antique’ rub-off leather for a more traditional look. Should you prefer a more natural grain leather, such as aniline or distressed, you can expect to pay a little more. If you would like some leather samples sent to you please give as clear an idea of the sort of product you would prefer on the Request Form.

Q. Where does the leather come from?
A. Almost all of our leather is from Italy with a small amount coming from South America .

Q. How extensive is the range of leather?
A. Our leather collection is sourced from a wide variety of the country’s leading suppliers allowing customers to choose from one of the most extensive ranges of leather in the UK .

Q. Do these prices include delivery?
A. No. Delivery prices depend on the delivery address so will vary. Please contact us with this info rmation and we will work out a likely cost.

Q. How soon can I expect delivery?
A. For standard fabric furniture you can expect delivery in 3-4 weeks. Leather furniture normally takes a week or so longer. You should bear in mind that these timescales can vary according to the time of year – eg Christmas – when we are particularly busy. Also, this does not take into account your chosen fabric or leather being out-of-stock at the time of order although you will be info rmed of such delays at the time.

Q. Can I have a weekend delivery?
A. Sometimes. All of our deliveries are completed using outside contractors so if you tell us you would prefer a weekend delivery when you order we can try to work something out with a contractor.

Q. Can furniture be modified to fit through narrow doorways or awkward stairways?
A. Yes. We can make several adjustments to help do this. First, most models have either detachable legs or can include ‘bolted-on arms’ which can be removed before delivery and re-assembled in situ. In extreme cases we can reduce frame dimensions or even supply sofas in modules where necessary. Please bear in mind that it is your responsibility to ensure that the furniture is able to fit through your home or work entrance and any stairways. If we are not made aware of any access issues when an order is placed we cannot be held responsible for any subsequent difficulties.

Q. Can deliveries be made through access points above ground level?
A. Unfortunately we are unable to use block and tackle for such deliveries these days. This is down to insurance/Health & Safety issues. In extreme situations one or two customers have hired a small crane!

Q. How is a Handmade Sofa Company sofa constructed?
A. All furniture is made using solid beech hardwood frames. All joints are glued and dowelled and heavily re info rced at major stress points with screws thus ensuring lifetime durability. Seat platforms are steel sprung with serpentine/zigzag springs or webbed with high tension webbing. All foam fillings and composites are of the highest quality and compliant with Furniture & Furnishings (Fire Safety) Regulations 1988.

Q. Do these prices include any modifications I require?
A. No. Modifications require us to construct a bespoke frame and new cutting patterns for upholstery, fabric/leather and cushion fillings. As a result it is necessary to make an additional charge for the extra labour this requires as well as any additional materials used. This normally adds about 10% to the overall cost.

Q. Which sofas can be made as a sofabed?
A. Most of our sofas can include a bed action including corner sofas. The only exceptions are the chaise longue models. However, where a sofa has a leg taller than 7.5cms it is necessary to extend the front border to avoid the bed action being visible on the underside. If you wish to include a bed in your sofa you can expect to add £175.00 to the overall cost in a standard 3 seat sofa.

Q. What type of mattress is included in a sofabed?
A. Most of our sofabeds include a 10cm thick sprung mattress.

Q. What fillings are used in the seat/back cushions?
A. We use eitherfoam or dacron fibre as our standard cushion fillings. Non-standard fillings we can also supply include a foam/fibre wrap or feather. Please ask about these if you require an explanation of the differences for these.

Q. Where is the furniture made?
A. All furniture is made in the UK .

Q. How eco-friendly is the furniture?
A. We try to source materials from sustainable sources wherever possible.

Q. Can I get a refund if I no longer want the furniture?
A. Yes – that is your statutory right. We will refund you in full less any delivery charges. However we do insist that the furniture is not used as we cannot take back goods which in our opinion show signs of damage or discolouration not evident on delivery. The only exception to the rule is where we are commissioned to make a ‘design-your-own’ item. Where such a piece of furniture is made exactly as ordered we will not accept it’s return and therefore no refund will be applicable.

Q. What happens if the furniture is damaged in some way?
A. On delivery, depending on the type of damage, we will either take the item back to our factory to be repaired or organise for it to be repaired in situ free of charge. In the unlikely event a structural fault becomes evident following delivery you must inform us immediately. Please note that this will take into account fair wear and tear. If you sign the delivery note stating that the item was received by you in good condition we cannot accept any subsequent claims for superficial damage.

Q. Can Chesterfield furniture be supplied with a deep buttoned seat?
A. Yes. Apart from the Fender, where a buttoned seat is standard, you can have any of them with a deep buttoned seat at an additional 10% to the cost. In fact, you can also have a plain fixed cushion as well as a single loose cushion.

Q. Can Chesterfield furniture be supplied without any deep buttoning?
