DELIVERY

We will call or email you, usually a week or so beforehand, to arrange a convenient date and time for delivery. If necessary, you can often arrange an evening or weekend delivery.

Please bear in mind that it is your responsibility to check that the furniture you have ordered fits through your home or work entrance and any stairways.

Unfortunately, our carriers may not be able to assist you should the initial access point be above ground level. Our carriers are only contracted to deliver to your door. If you require delivery into your residence it is at your own risk.

Please note that many models include bolted-on-arms for easier access. A charge of £30.00 per item is payable should it be necessary to disassemble/reassemble these to gain access.

If you are uncertain whether access will be a problem, please let us know details of access points etc. For local deliveries we can also visit to ascertain what is possible.

We would appreciate any assistance in terms of local information which may affect ease of delivery. Such information might include awkward access, low bridges etc.We also recommend preparing the access point by removing any potential obstructions and small items such as ornament, mirrors and pictures.

The carrier will remove all packaging to allow you to inspect the furniture for any damage or deficiencies and you will be required to sign a receipt as proof of delivery and acceptance of goods received. Although improbable, should there be any damage to the furniture, we will either take back the goods or arrange for an on-site repair free of charge.

Please note that The Handmade Sofa Company cannot accept any responsibility for lost working time in the unlikely event of a delivery being incorrect, delayed or postponed.

OTHER FAQS

Q. What fabric can I have a sofa covered in?

A. You can have your sofa covered in any fabric whatsoever – assuming they are able to conform to the latest Fire & Safety regulations. Please note it must be possible to add a fire treatment to any fabric intended for use on Chesterfield furniture as it is not possible to use a fire retardent (FR) interliner on these ranges.

Q. Can I supply my own fabric?

A. Yes – although we do insist that you contact us before buying any fabric to confirm the quantity required and to check whether any further fabric care/fire treatments are required. We may also be able to acquire the fabric a little cheaper than you!

Q. Do these prices include leather?

A. Yes. Leather furniture prices are based on using either plain corrected or semi-corrected grains for more contemporary furniture or ‘antique’ rub-off leather for a more traditional look. Should you prefer a more natural grain leather, such as aniline or distressed, you can expect to pay a little more. If you would like some leather samples sent to you please give as clear an idea of the sort of product you would prefer on the Request Form.

Q. How is a Handmade Sofa Company sofa constructed?

A. All furniture is made using solid beech hardwood frames. All joints are glued and dowelled and heavily reinforced at major stress points with screws thus ensuring lifetime durability. Seat platforms are steel sprung with serpentine/zigzag springs or webbed with high tension webbing. All foam fillings and composites are of the highest quality and compliant with Furniture & Furnishings (Fire Safety) Regulations 1988.

Q. Can I get a refund if I no longer want the furniture?

A. Yes – that is your statutory right. We will refund you in full less any delivery charges. However we do insist that the furniture is not used as we cannot take back goods which in our opinion show signs of damage or discolouration not evident on delivery. The only exception to the rule is where we are commissioned to make a ‘design-your-own’ item. Where such a piece of furniture is made exactly as ordered we will not accept it’s return and therefore no refund will be applicable.
